Wedding Party
Groom's Side
Russell Kasem
Best Man
I met Russell before he met me. You see, Kate and I lived together after she took me in when I busted my leg. And every Tuesday we would go get Mexican together so I got to hear all the details about their first few dates, how he was a band geek, and how he gave her shit right back. Most importantly, I heard that her cat Binx, who is afraid of his own shadow, actually cuddled with him. I knew then that he was a stand up guy, what I didn’t know was that he would end up being the person I go to to talk about life’s ups and downs, to enjoy shared interests, and ultimately be my Best Man.
The Guys
Lewis, Chris, Justin, & Jason
It's hard to talk about these guys on their own. I met them all through the local Subaru community all around the same time. What started as simply finding friends and having a guys night turned into developing friendships with these 4 that outlasted a pandemic, life changing events, and blown up engines. Not only do our interests lie in Subarus and cars in general but we share a love for life itself. These are my guys, the friends I go to the mountains with to escape the real world and who I grab dinner and drinks with on a particularly hard week. Guys who I know have my back no matter what.
Lewis Smith
Groomsman
I met Lewis first. He was selling a front lip for a Subaru and I needed some retail therapy after breaking my leg. I then realized I was following his car’s Instagram account shortly after. Once I was driving and walking again we started hanging out at Caffeine & Octane, along with the local Subaru community's dinner meets.
Chris Bachman
Groomsman
Chris and I met at the local dinner meets, and ultimately I invited him out to our guy nights. That first time hanging out we went to grab dinner and drinks, not realizing he wasn’t 21 yet. You see, Chris looks far older than he is with being able to grow facial hair I’m envious of. So it was a shock learning he was the baby of the group.
Justin Stier
Groomsman
Like Chris, Justin joined in on the guy nights. We found a connection in wanting to take our cars on track and hopefully start competing in time attack. He is my track buddy, pushing each other and enjoying the thrill of role playing race car drivers. He’s been there when my brakes have failed and I’ve been there when his throttle body snapped. Always willing to make sure each other makes it home safely, but not before stopping at Taco Mac to have some wings and drink a few beers.
Jason Drummond
Groomsman
While also included in my car friends, Jason and I share the same career in front end web development. We constantly talk shop and inspire each other in our work, bouncing ideas off each other and pushing the envelope at our places of work as much as possible. I believe it was the first trip to the Tail of the Dragon I had made where Chris and I were sharing a room, we found out Jason didn’t have a place to stay. Since it was just the 2 of us we knew we could let someone share the room if they needed, and that person ended up being Jason. I remember after getting back from a night of shenanigans Jason tried to fall asleep in the chair. This move pushed the 5 of us to rent our own cabin every year, which has turned into tradition at this point.
